Project 8 Submission : Papercraft Objects: Final Revision

From last class, I got abundant ideas of how I can improve my object. The main goals were as follows. 1. Making solid connection between objects. 2. Re-design parts with short height that couldn't be assembled as three-dimensional parts. (Scale issue) 3. Add decorative parts for more realistic look. For the first matter, I received a feedback of making extensions on one side of the neck which can be attached with body more securely. Also there was another opinion saying lengthening neck and attach with bridge part that will come out from a whole of the guitar body. And as a solution, I combined these two approaches. I lengthened guitar's neck and made it sort of penetrate the guitar body all the way through. With this way, the body and the neck were securely connected. Also, the sturdiness of the body was enhanced since lengthened neck worked as a skeleton of the guitar body. And to make this happen, I adopted a larger paper to lessen the number of the body pieces. It used to ...

Project 7 Submission : Paper craft Objects: First Prototype

I designed a guitar as my object and made a prototype with card stock paper. Here are my planar figure to start with. From top left in clock order, the first two planar figure for guitar body, third, fourth is for the guitar neck with third piece of the guitar body at the corner with 'B'. The last board has guitar head and all the other components. And here I noticed that some of the parts that is on the last board should be placed on the guitar neck board since they are not the same color as guitar head and some parts. The parts are octagons with long tail with smooth surfaces on the top right part of the board, and octagons with curvy tail which is located in the middle of the paper. ★ Photos from crafting process.         ★ The completed prototype : Prototype missing some machine pieces on the head part.    Detail of the head and additional pieces. Original design done with Rhino. ★ Problems found 1. Size and thickness of some object Considering the...

I made a electric guitar with Rhino.  Personally, guitar means me being irresponsible.  When I was in junior high, I was into metal music and wanted to learn how to play guitar.  My mom was very supportive with it and bought me a guitar and other gadgets including amp and how to play guitar books.  But I was not being responsible and neglect to learn it properly. I still don't know how to play guitar and recently it was sold to someone else.  Every time I see people who play guitar, I think about the time and effort they have been putting into, to become very comfortable and good about it.  And feel ashamed that I couldn't achieve it. Body of the guitar. Shape composed with  dodecagon  , hexagon and octagon. Bridge on the body. Extended octagon. Knobs on the body. octagonal dome. x2 Machine head. x4 Guitar head : Combination of Hexagons and triangle Guitar neck, extended cube Machine head part Opened machine head part  Cores Whole guita...

I rendered the obj file I trimmed in Mesh mixer last week and I added ground setting as glossy palm wood, put 2 point lights up from 2 different angle, one in orangish color and the other in blue color. To keep the toy like looking, I adopted a texture which looks like silicon on alligator. Also, I adopted non glossy brown texture on paper bag, non glossy white on paper bird, silver metal on stapler wire on the bird and silver metal inside of the alligator's mouth.
