Project 2, Day 01 Log

이미지
I got a shaping foam and made 2 shapes as an option. The rules that I thought to keep are as follows: - Can be held with one hand, but comfy to hold it with 2 hands. - Round corners - At least one of the surface can hold 2x1.5" screen. - Free Standing - Should be able to fit in pockets, no bigger than average size of adult's palm. - Ergonomic design letting people to hold this device easily.

Project 2 Proposal

Project 2 prompt As an extension of the previous project and in line with Project 2's objective of designing something that is mass-produced, I would like to re-design my multi-sensory fidget device, Bubblin. It fits with this project because 3D fabrication files that can be used with 3D printers are reproducible. This design aims to help many people who need some isolation from bothersome elements in their lives by providing a personal portable item so it has to be reproducible. Why redesign? The old design I made is not unique, and it has little potential to attract market attention and appeal to the audience. The second reason is that since the Bubblin device is supposed to calm and comfort to people's minds, ergonomic design could contribute to that goal. Plans Build a shape that feels comfortable in hands with clay. Decide its size as well. Take photos of the clay from the top, left, right, bottom, front, and back, and record its size as well. I will bring the photos to Rh...

Project 1 Proposal 02: Visualizing and animating product design with "Blender"

이미지
After sharing my idea in the last class, I was advised to save that project for the next assignment. At the same time, I was asked to consider this project's keyword, "Bespoke," more deeply.  Since I want to connect this project with my past graphic design project, I decided to develop one of my Info design class's projects. It was a project that required us to react to given articles. I was most interested in the article about how ASMR  (Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response)  helps people calm down and designed a fidget that can provide multiple sensory stimulation.  There are 2 reasons why I thought this project would fit into the theme "bespoke." Firstly, one of the features of this product is that the user can freely design its video, audio and sleeve/protective covers using the product website's "studio." I decided to have this feature for this product since I saw the endless list of designs of the fidgets, YouTube videos or other sources,...

Project 1 Proposal: Redesigning and Animating Pasta Box Using "Blender"

이미지
Initiatives Last year, as a graphic design project, I designed a pasta box. The project's core mission was to make a pasta package design that includes a specific audience group, which is visually impaired people. My solution at that time was highly focused on great legibility by using visual features such as colours and contrasts and a new package form for easier and safer use, which includes a drawer package with individual portion packages. However, the design could be more intuitive if the package looked like its products. So, I want to renew this design that holds the product shape. Normally, pasta products come in different shapes. To show design consistency within the brand, I would like to broaden the kind of pasta, not limiting it to penne pasta, and make pasta packages that represent different pasta shapes. Project Detail 1. Design kinds - Penne - Spaghetti - Linguini - Macaroni - Reginette - Fusilli 2. Goal of the design Make a package design that is not conventional. ( ...

CNC Mold Positive: Modeling

이미지
To make a extrusion that is shaped like this, I thought I can draw its outlines in Adobe Illustrator and import. The instructor showed me couple other suggestions.

MILESTONE PROJECT 1: STACKED SLICES MODEL

이미지
I was assigned to build a stacked slice model using grasshopper and laser printing.  Research I looked for some examples of this project and found some interesting examples.       I think these examples are interesting since unlike other examples the instructor showed, these structures have slices arrayed on circular shape and it is showcasing much free-er form than just shape extruded from the bottom and laid on the bottom. And some of the examples were showcasing very organic form and I think organic form made with high technology like laser cut is such an interesting irony and wanted to try it. Planning While doing previous projects, I saw some YouTube tutorials explaining how to build a wavy wall. I thought maybe I can build a wall that is looking similar and use slice command in grasshopper. Modeling At the first time, I made some organic curves, assigned to "curves" in grasshopper and used "loft". However in the next week, we learned how to build irregula...
